SAN JOSE, CALIF. (Dec. 21, 1:45 p.m. ET) — An upbeat positive mood prevailed at the BiomeDevice trade show and forum. Injection molder PTA Plastics, for example reported gains beyond recovery.
“We are back to where we were in 2008, and now we are exceeding those sales,” said Rich Dorans, vice president of operations.
PTA Plastics is finding success in its core medical and defense markets and has ordered a 240-ton Toshiba for operation in January in its Longmont, Colo., plant.
The firm added two 85-ton Toshibas in Longmont this year with one starting in July and the other in March.
PTA's 13 presses in Colorado and 10 others in Oxford, Conn., have a clamping force range of 45-1,370 tons.
Dorans said PTA has a total of 165 employees including 10 persons hired since mid-2010.
PTA Corp. does business as PTA Plastics.
