VISTA, CALIF. (Dec. 28, 12:35 p.m. ET) — In southern California, injection molder Nubs Plastics Inc. is moving 132 miles to Vista from its Valencia headquarters and absorbing an existing subsidiary in San Marcos.
“We hope to be up and running by the second week in January,” said President Shardul Ramolia.
Ramolia has run the 10,296-square-foot Valencia site as Nubs, while his father, Niyogi Ramolia, has operated the 11,000-square-foot San Marcos location as president of the separate Progressive Molding Inc. business unit. Niyogi Ramolia established Nubs in 1994.
Nubs Plastics acquired Progressive in 2009, decided in mid-2011 to consolidate operations and discontinues the Progressive identity as of Jan. 1, 2012.
Nubs is buying a 36,404-square-foot 21-year-old building on 1.9 acres in a Vista business park from the Hirschbein Beno Trust and, temporarily, leases the space.
Niyogi Ramolia led the movement of equipment to Vista from San Marcos in late December. About three miles separate the buildings in northern San Diego County.
Concentrating on regional medical molding work, that operation employs 20, runs seven injection molding presses of 24-242 tons including four from Fortune and three from Boy and has a full repair and maintenance tool shop.
Meanwhile, Shardul Ramolia is organizing the early January relocation from Valencia of 13 injection molding presses of 30-310 tons including nine Toshibas, three Nisseis and one Sumitomo and multiple auxiliary-process and quality-control machines and devices. Typical Nubs national accounts involve safety, irrigation, consumer and some medical products.
