CLEVELAND (Dec. 29, 11 a.m. ET) — U.S. demand for aseptic packaging will outpace the overall packaging average, rising 8 percent annually between 2010 and 2015, according to a new report.
The total aseptic market will reach $5.12 billion in 2015, up from $3.49 billion in 2010. Growth will be fueled in part by biotechnology-based injectable drugs, which are heat sensitive and tend to require aseptic filling and packaging. Pharmaceuticals are already the largest aseptic packaging market, accounting for 64 percent of the total in 2010.
Prefillable syringes will represent the fastest growing product type, according to the report, “Aseptic Packaging,” from Cleveland-based Freedonia.
The 207-page report costs $4,900.
