Sun Plastech Inc. says its Asaclean purging compound has proved effective in cleaning mixers.
The Parsippany, N.J., company conducted trials with C.W. Brabender's three-piece mixer/measuring head attached to Brabender's Intelli-Torque Plasti-Corder torque rheometer to observe the cleaning power.
Sun Plastech added a small amount of Asaclean to the mixer and the blades were turned a t high revolutions per minute for a few minutes in the forward direction and then in reverse. After the process was repeated several times the disassembled mixer showed that the blades and mixing bowl were cleaned. Slight traces of the purging agent were easily removed with a wire brush and cloth. Cleaning time was a fraction of the usual hour.
