SAS Automation LLC, the maker of end-of-arm tooling in Xenia, Ohio, said its new electric grippers are designed for applications that require high speeds, and for light or moderate grip forces.
Electric also is cleaner than pneumatic or hydraulic power, making electric grippers effective for handling dust-sensitive produces such as circuit boards, according to SAS.
For little additional cost, a microprocessor can be added to an electric gripping system, giving controlling to vary clamping force and velocity. That means you can use the same gripper to handle a variety of sizes and shapes, the company said.
