BENTONVILLE, ARK. (Jan. 4, 1 p.m. ET) — WalMart Stores Inc. launched a blog on sustainability, the company announced.
The Green Room went live Jan. 3 and features Andrea Thomas, the company's senior vice president on sustainability.
In her first post, Thomas writes that the grocery giant has made commitments to find the most innovative solutions that the world faces.
“They range from broad goals, such as zero waste and 100 percent renewable energy, to specific pledges to source beef that does not contribute to deforestation or to sell only sustainable palm oil in our private label brands,” Thomas wrote.
She said the blog will be a way to collaborate on making a more sustainable world, asking readers what they want the company to address on environmental or social issues, and how the company could help individuals reach their sustainable goals.
