Glenn Glasberg has joined Plastics News in its Akron headquarters as director of audience development and data products. Glasberg joins PN from his role as director of marketing, circulation and data products for a unit of UBM Canon in Newtown, Pa.
A 1994 graduate of Syracuse University, Glasberg has spent 15 of the past 17 years working for Engel Publishing Partners, which was acquired in 2007 by the firm now known as UBM Canon. He most recently headed a team of 17, working primarily in the medical and pharmaceutical markets.
The data products role is a new one for Plastics News, but his experience fits well with the publication's plans to launch its online Data Center soon, as well as to develop other data-driven products.
The audience-development function previously was run out of the Detroit headquarters of PN's parent company, Crain Communications Inc.
“Going forward there are real advantages to having our audience-development person here in Akron, working alongside our digital, marketing, editorial and events departments to expand the reach of our brand and to create new revenue streams,” said Publisher and Vice President Tony Eagan, “We're very pleased to bring on board someone of Glenn's expertise who can help us offer more valuable products to our customers.”
