NEW DELHI (Jan. 9, 12 p.m. ET) — Mahle Filter Systems Indian Ltd. is increasing the plastic component range at its production facilities in India.
The company is setting up a dedicated plastic component plant in Chennai to manufacture plastic air intake manifolds.
“The plant supplies plastic air intake manifold to Renault-Nissan venture in India. We have recently added six cylinder head cover … and started supplying to Honda and Volvo trucks. We are in touch with more OEMs and they have keen interest to source our plastic component range,” said Ramesh Sundararajan, president of Mahle Holding (India) Pvt Ltd., at Auto Expo in New Delhi.
Mahle acquired 60 percent of Stuttgart Behr Industry in the middle of 2010.
“The product portfolio of both companies fit together well for example, we are now able to offer intake modules with integrated indirect charge air coolers, complete exhaust gas recirculation modules with cooler and valve as well as HVAC modules with specially designed cabin air filters. Lot of plastic parts are used as part of the assembly,” Sundararajan said.
Mahle has started manufacturing range of engine cooling plastic parts like shrouds, fan, coolant tanks, reservoir tank and for HVAC modules like blower housing, air distributors, flaps and ducts.
