NEW DELHI (Jan. 11, 3 p.m. ET) — Woco Industrietechnik GmbH plans to enter the Indian automobile market soon. The company will bring its expertise in actuators, acoustics and polymer technology to the Indian automobile industry.
The company has been consistently working on weight reduction by replacing metal with plastics.
“We have two joint venture plants with Motherson at Noida & Kandla. The Kandla plant manufactures plastic and rubber components,” said Sven Ritzke, global sales manager for Tier One automotive customers.
The company plans to supply components water wells for engine coolants and functional parts like activators and solenoids.
“We are planning to bring them to India from our facilities in China, Mexico & Europe,” Sven said. Woco will set up a sales office in India.
“The next step is to set up an independent subsidiary in India by 2013 or 2014,” Sven claimed. When asked location of the proposed plant, Sven replied, “It would in auto hubs like Pune, Chennai or Gujarat.” The proposed facility would have the plastic injection, assembly, laser and ultrasonic welding, Sven added.
The German company would also bring its acoustics range of plastic components like air-filter system, broadband absorbers for turbochargers, acoustic attenuation system for applications near to the engine.
