ASHTABULA, OHIO (Updated Jan. 19, 4:35 p.m. ET) — Pigment and chemical dispersions maker Plasticolors Inc. has acquired several non-urethane pigment dispersion product lines from Milliken & Co. for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition “is consistent with our focus in supplying quality colorants and additives for high performance specialty applications for thermoset plastics and coatings,” Plasticolors President and CEO Scott Becker said in a Jan. 9 news release.
The deal includes product formulations but no manufacturing equipment, thermosets business director Elizabeth Campbell said by phone Jan. 19.
For Plasticolors, the deal is its fifth acquisition in the last 12 years. Most recently, the firm bought the UCD Colorants business from Rohm & Haas in 2007. Plasticolors is a leading supplier of pigment and chemical dispersions used in auto components, epoxy flooring, electrical and appliance housings and other products.
“We look at organic growth, but acquisition is a way to grow as well,” she added.
Plasticolors employs about 150. The employee-owned firm does not release sales statistics.
