NEW DELHI (Jan. 18, 1 p.m. ET) — Pune based S.M. Auto Engineering Pvt Ltd. has localized manufacturing of mud flaps to cater the growing Indian truck industry.
The company has technical collaboration deal with Oy Parlok AB of Pargas, Finland.
“We have clients including Tata Motors, AMW, Mahindra Navistar. We are also talking to Ashok Leyland and hope to supply them soon,” said Director S. M. Rege, 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo.
Currently the company imports thermoformed mudguards from Parlok for Indian truck OEMs.
“We will commence mudguard manufacturing by 2013,” Rege said. The company will continue to import tool boxes, fire extinguishers and other products.
S.M. Auto has nine manufacturing plants. It first started making plastic components in Pune in 2005.
