FITCHBURG, MASS. (Jan. 19, 4 p.m. ET) — The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce has canceled the massPlastics trade show that was planned for Oct. 24-25 in Fitchburg.
“Several factors led to the decision, not the least of which is the rescheduling, this year, of the industry's largest U.S. exposition, NPE,” said David McKeehan, president of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce.
The advisory committee is planning the massPlastics show for 2013.
“We're reengineering the show and its ongoing schedule to meet the needs of today's industry,” McKeehan said, “There will be announcement, shortly, on the new dates.”
The chamber of commerce launched the massPlastics show in 1989 to spotlight the plastics industry in the region. The first show, held in the ballroom of a Leominster hotel, attracted 30 exhibitors and about 300 attendees. At its peak, some 5,000 people attended the event with 300 exhibitors at the Central Massachusetts Expo Center in Fitchburg.
