Adell Plastics Inc. has introduced a line of maleic anhydride-modified polyolefins for use as compatibilizers in polymer compounding.
Adell, based in Baltimore, Md., said the additives reduce interfacial forces between polymers and fillers to increase adhesion within a compound. Their use also results in more uniform dispersion and more stable morphology, the company claims.
The series has a high level of functionality to allow low addition levels. Initial offerings are EK-10-MAH modified polypropylene for coupling glass and other fillers in PP and KK-10-MAH, a modified high density polyethylene for coupling glass, wood pulp and other fillers in HDPE.
