THREE HILLS, ALBERTA (Feb. 24 1 p.m. ET) — A 47-year-old man in the province of Alberta was fatally wounded at a plastics recycling plant earlier this week.
Provincial officials are investigating the Feb. 20 incident in which a protective barrier from a plastic chipper came off and the man was struck in the chest with a piece of the machinery, the Calgary Herald reported.
The man was taken to a hospital in Three Hills and died later that night, the newspaper said.
Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety department issued an order to Mabista Holdings, the man's employer, and banned workers from using the machine while the investigation continues.
