DALLAS, N.C. (Feb. 28, 2:45 p.m. ET) — R"chling Engineering Plastics is expanding operations with a $4 million investment in its Gastonia Technology Park facility.
The American subsidiary of Germany-based R"chling Group will be adding a new MegaSheet press with the ability to produce a thermoplastic piece measuring eight by 20 feet. The press will improve efficiency and create new opportunities in the North American market.
The facility currently employs 145 and will add 15 new jobs with the expansion.
R"chling produces ultra high molecular weight HDPE, polypropylene, nylon and acetal. Other materials include transformer components, threaded rods and nuts, conveyor components, water treatment parts and power transmission parts.
Work on the expansion commenced in January and mid-October is the expected completion date
R"chling Engineering Plastics is a branch of the German multinational corporation R"chling Group, as part of their High-Performance Plastics division. R"chling Group also has an automotive division and employs more than 6,600 people at 56 locations in 30 countries.
R"chling Group took over Italian machining specialist Leder Orago late last year with sales totaling Euro 1.1 billion at the end of 2011. Twelve percent of the corporation's sales are in America with 44 percent in Germany.
