R"chling Engineering Plastics in Dallas, N.C., is expanding operations with a $4 million investment in its Gastonia Technology Park facility in Gastonia, N.C.
The American subsidiary of Germany-based R"chling Group will be adding a new MegaSheet press with the ability to produce a thermoplastic piece measuring 8 by 20 feet. The press will improve efficiency and create new opportunities in the North American market, according to the company.
The facility currently employs 145 and will add 15 new jobs with the expansion.
R"chling produces ultrahigh- molecular-weight polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon and acetal. Other materials include transformer components, threaded rods and nuts, conveyor components, water-treatment parts and power-transmission parts.
Work on the expansion commenced in January, with an expected mid-October completion date.
R"chling Engineering Plastics is a branch of the Mannheim, Germany-based multinational corporation R"chling Group, as part of its High-Performance Plastics division. R"chling Group also has an automotive division and employs more than 6,600 people at 56 locations in 30 countries.
R"chling Group reported sales totaling 1.1 billion euros ($1.5 billion) for 2011.
