NPE2012 will mark the North American debut of the OneStep, which combines recycling and compounding in a single machine, according to eFACTOR3 LLC, a turnkey supplier of shredding, cleaning, granulating and extrusion equipment (Booth 16005).
The OneStep is made by Maschinen- und Anlagenbau Schulz GmbH in Pucking, Austria. eFACTOR3 is based in Charlotte, NC.
The compact extruder is combined with a melt filter system and a downstream, single screw degassing extruder. The system is very energy efficient, the company said.
The large infeed opening lets the extruder handle materials with a low bulk density, such as film flakes. They do not have to be compressed beforehand. Side feeders do not have to be used, since additives can be metered into the film flakes and fed into the system at the same time.
The plastic is melted quickly over a short path, thanks to the large contact surface of the screws. Integrated kneading elements support homogenization.
The machine does not need a melt pump, according to eFACTOR3.
