WASHINGTON (March 20, 12:15 p.m. ET) — The American Chemistry Council has taken its plastics recycling message to Facebook.
Recycle Your Plastics, ACC's latest entry into social media, will share plastics recycling news and information. The page also will give tips, trends and opportunities in plastics recycling on a regular basis, according to a news release.
“We've seen a steady increase in opportunities to recycle more plastics over the past several months, and we want to make sure people are aware of these developments,” Steve Russell, ACC's vice president of plastics, said in a statement. “Facebook is a great way to connect people with information, so that we can all do our part for our communities and the environment. Used plastics are a valuable resource, and it's never been easier to recycle many of the plastics we use every day.”
Facebook is not the only social media outlet ACC has tapped into; the Washington-based organization launched a LinkedIn group in late 2011 for recycling professionals, and it has a Recycle Your Plastics website, and twitter page.
