ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (March 21, 12:25 p.m. ET) — Sealed Air Corp. is closing two of its New York plants, according to WARN act notices filed Feb. 9.
The company will shutter plants in Rochester and Scotia, N.Y., for economic reasons, according to the notices.
The Rochester plant makes food packaging for Cryovac Inc., a division of Sealed Air. The closing will affect 186 workers. The plant will close May 10.
The Scotia facility manufactures polyethylene foam. It employs 70 and will close May 20.
Sealed Air, based in Elmwood Park, N.J., employs approximately 26,300 employees worldwide at 145 facilities.
The company is no. 13 in Plastics News' latest ranking of North American thermoformers with net sales of $5,640 million in 2011.
