MEMPHIS, TENN. (March 23, 12:30 p.m. ET) — Lucite International Inc. is on track to complete its investment this Spring to resume full production of methyl methacrylate (MMA) at its Beaumont, Texas facility. It is also progressing with its planned expansion of methacrylic acid (MAA) production at the same facility.
The Memphis-based company is establishing production capacity of 150,000 metric tons per year of MMA, and 23,000 metric tons per year of MAA.
The company will continue to produce MMA at its Memphis facility, giving the company two world-scale MMA plants to serve customers in the Americas.
“As demand strengthens, Lucite is uniquely positioned to support the future growth of our customers,” said Robert Connolly, business director for monomers, said in a March 22 news release.
Lucite was acquired by Mitsubishi Rayon Co Ltd. in 2009.
