ANAHEIM, CALIF. (March 27, 1:05 p.m. ET) — Custom thermoformer Brookdale Plastics Inc. processed more than a dozen projects through a new Class 100,000 clean room that became operational in May at the firm's Plymouth, Minn., facility. Previously, Brookdale used two small modular clean rooms.
“We wanted speed-to-market and lower-cost tooling” for startup firms and those wanting identical inner- and outer-seal flange geometries, said Paul Howe, technical sales representative. Brookdale uses Czech Republic-based Accuform's T-Sim thermoforming computer simulation software in designing primarily blister packs, clamshells and sterile trays that customers often assemble for packaging medical devices.
Brookdale has five thin-gauge thermoformers — three Sencorp in-line machines and two internally built sheet-fed machines — in the new 8,000-square-foot clean room.
Elsewhere in its 90,000-square-foot plant, Brookdale operates six Sencorp thin-gauge in-line machines for consumer and non-sterile medical applications.
Brookdale has 65 employees.
The firm attended the UBM Canon trade show, held Feb. 14-16 in Anaheim.
