Artenius has developed a new PET packaging resin it claims reduces overall energy usage.
FastFlow+ captures heat energy in the blowing process more efficiently, cutting back the total amount of energy in blow molding PET bottles. Energy savings of up to 20 percent are possible, according to the firm based in El Prat de Llobregat, Spain. The energy efficiency also allows higher bottle throughput.
FastFlow+ offers wider injection stretch blow molding and stretch blow molding windows. Its energy efficiency translates to a smaller carbon footprint. Its intrinsic viscosity addresses market needs and is suited to light-weighting designs. The new formulation, an improvement over Artenius's FastFlow resin, includes a new additive for absorbing near infra-red radiation to heat up the polymer more effectively during the preform blow molding. Artenius says higher throughput rates are obtainable even on older blow molders. The new PET has high clarity and very low haze.
Artenius is a division of La Seda de Barcelona with PET resin plants in Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey.
