SHANGHAI (April 19, 3:35 p.m. ET) — Kraiburg TPE GmbH & Co. KG is expanding capacity at its Malaysia-based plant. The Waldkraiburg, Germany-based company expects to double capacity from 3,500 tons per year to 7,000 tons per year, helping fill increasing demand in India and China.
“We're expecting the new capacity to come online by the end of May,” said Lars Goldmann, the head of corporate marketing at Kraiburg. “The new capacity will go to serve all of Asia.”
Goldmann was interviewed at Chinaplas 2012 in Shanghai.
In early April, Kraiburg announced that it would be shifting its focus toward olefin block copolymer (OCB) blends.
In addition to the new capacity, Kraiburg has launched a website in Japanese, expanding the number of languages available to seven. Kraiburg is also opening websites in Portuguese, to serve the company's Brazilian customers, and French, to serve the company's Northern African customers.
Kraiburg arrived at the exhibition featuring TPEs for drinking water applications. The Kraiburg products were developed to meet the main European drinking water standards and can be used in plumbing installations, including seals, shower heads and other sanitary fittings. Two new oelfin block copolymer products are scheduled to come out in May, Goldmann said.
The two products will offer resistance to oils such skin oil or sunscreen lotion and will offer special adhesion and silky surface properties.
