PARIS (April 24, 4:10 p.m. ET) — Albéa Inc., the former Alcan beauty packaging division, has expanded in China by acquiring three plants.
Paris-based Albéa, which is owned by private equity firm Sun European Partners LLP, said it bought Zhongshan Meiquan Plastic Products Co. Ltd. from a company called Tex RL group.
Terms were not disclosed.
The Chinese operations are based in Guangdong province and makes beauty packaging including mascara, lip gloss, lipstick, pots and cases. The acquired company has 700 employees and 2011 sales of $20 million, of which 80 percent came from exports, according to an April 20 Albéa news release.
The deal also includes a mold manufacturing shop.
The acquisition gives Albéa five plants in China.
Albéa said it has a total of 10,200 employees and 36 sites across 13 countries. It makes laminate tubes, plastic tubes mascaras and eyeliner packaging, and other plastic and metal beauty packaging products.
