Albéa, the former Alcan beauty packaging division, has expanded in China by acquiring three plants.
Albéa, which is owned by global private equity firm Sun European Partners LLP of London, said it bought Zhongshan Meiquan Plastic Products Co. Ltd. from Tex R.L. Industrial Co. Ltd. of Taipei, Taiwan.
The Chinese operations, known as Tex China, are based in Zhongshan, in Guangdong province, and manufacture packaging for mascara, lip gloss, lipstick, pots and cases.
Tex China employs 700 and reported 2011 product sales of $20 million, 80 percent of which came from exports, according to an April 20 news release from Paris-based Albéa.
The deal also includes a mold-making shop.
The acquisition gives Albéa five plants in China.
Albéa employs 10,200 at 36 sites across 13 countries.
The company makes laminate tubes, plastic tubes, mascara and eyeliner packaging, and other plastic and metal cosmetic-packaging products.
