MUMBAI, INDIA (May 3, 4 p.m. ET) — Wavin Overseas BV is looking at the Indian plastic pipe market with lot of interest.
The company licensed its technology to Indian partners like Supreme Industries almost two decades back, Chemplast Sanmar Group around 10 years ago, and its has a distribution partnership with Astral Group.
“We are now focusing on bringing products from our international range to the India market. This market has huge potential in areas of plastic pipes and fitting system, gas supply and water management,” said Andre Nuland, area manager, technology licensing, at the recent Vinyl India conference in Mumbai.
Nuland said growth in Indian the economy has promoted the company to bring new products the market, including fittings designed to reduce noise in high-rise buildings.
Wavin opened a local sales office in Mumbai in 2010.
The Dedemsvaart, Netherland-based company has 43 plants in Europe, and has been helping its partner companies expand abroad.
“We are setting up four plants for our partners — two in Asia and two in Africa,” Andre said.
