JALGAON, INDIA (May 8, 4 p.m. ET) — Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. and the University of Nebraska plan to work together on issues related to water conservation and sustainable food production.
The effort will focus in part on assisting small farmers in India to be efficient food producers through judicious use of water and energy resources.
Jain Managing Director Ajit Jain and Nebraska President James Milliken signed a memorandum of understanding on May 4 at Jain's headquarters in Jalgaon.
Milliken said the partners will cooperate in research in water science and technology, policy and education.
