Two new models of shredders for the New Generation line from Vecoplan LLC were shown at NPE 2012, held April 1-5 in Orlando.
“The NewGen shredders incorporate a wide range of innovations that improve performance, increase durability and decrease maintenance time,” said Kim James, marketing communications director for the Arcdale, N.C., company.
Among the features found on both the NewGen VAZ 1300 M and the NewGen VAZ 1600 XL FF T, he said, are cardan shaft drives, double sidewalls, reversible and externally adjustable counter knives, hydraulic swing-up screen carriages and screens that can be rotated.
The NewGen VAZ 1600 XL FF T is specifically designed for companies that shred film and fiber.
Cardan shaft drives eliminate drive belts, lower maintenance costs and decrease overall machine and machine-base widths. Double sidewalls reduce wear, eliminate contamination of and heat transfer to bearings, increase durability and lower maintenance costs.
Reversible counter knives deliver twice the life while cutting replacement costs in half, according to the company.
In addition, the company said, the shredder's hydraulic swing-up screen carriages make maintenance easier by providing easy access to the rotor for cutter replacements and removal of tramp metal.
The screens can be turned 180°, which increases wear life. The externally adjustable counter knives allow optimal cutting tolerances to be maintained quickly and easily.
NewGen shredders for the U.S. market were introduced in October after a successful product introduction in Europe, according to James. There are now eight models of NewGen shredders, the company said.
