Maxson Automatic Machinery Co. of Westerly, R.I., has developed a rotary sheeter for high impact polystryene sheet.
Maxon said its dual-knife rotary technology of its SDFK sheeter replaces conventional drop shear equipment. The cutting section includes knives mounted in upper and lower rotating cylinders. This cutting action eliminates the skive along the leading and tailing edges on sheet up to 0.060-inch thick, without producing slivers.
The operator can safely adjust cross-cutting blades while the cutter is running, by transversely shifting the upper cylinders across the width of the cutter.
The SDHK sheeter can run up to 300 feet per minute. The finished sheet sizes require no secondary trimming.
