Teknor Apex Co. has developed a rigid PVC compound with substantially higher flow than standard injection molding grades.
The Pawtucket, R.I., company claims its Apex RM8911 shows 25 to 50 percent greater flow in relative spiral tests compared with standard grades. It is suited as an economical alternative to engineering thermoplastics in large parts such as appliance panels, thin-wall parts and complex structures with elaborate flow paths, the company claims.
The new material also provides high gloss and is UL-94 recognized for applications requiring V-0 or 5VA flammability ratings. Teknor Apex also says it is durable, chemical-resistant and offers low viscosity for easy processing.
Business development manager Michael Renzi said the firm's compounding plants in the United States, Singapore and China can provide identical formulations of the product to customers with international locations.
