Erie, Pa.-based custom injection molder Plastek Industries Inc. outfitted its new plant in Hamlet, N.C., where it makes containers for oval deodorant sticks, with DynaCon modular conveyors.
Dynamic Conveyor Corp. announced the news.
The modular conveying systems are built from interlocking polycarbonate modules, which allows for unlimited configurations. By standardizing modules by width, from 4-72 inches wide, plants can swap modules from one conveyor to another by releasing a few bolts and snapping the modules in and out.
“If a layout is off by six inches or a foot, it can be accommodated by adding or subtracting a module,” said Ray O'Donnell, Plastek's corporate facilities manager. “What's great about the system is the flexibility. When we make changes in our process, we don't have to design our work areas around the existing conveyors, we change the conveyors to meet our work areas.”
Dynamic Conveyor is based in Muskegon, Mich.
