NEWCOMERSTOWN, OHIO (June 7, 12:10 p.m. ET) – PVC sheet maker Boltaron Performance Products LLC has been recognized for reducing its energy consumption by more than 175,000 kilowatt hours and carbon emissions by more than 150 tons annually.
The savings were the result of the first half of a green lighting initiative at the Newcomerstown company, according to engineering manager Jay Coventry.
“The new lighting replaced metal halide units, which had replaced T12 fluorescent lighting only 10 years ago, but lighting technology has advanced rapidly since then,” Coventry said in a news release.
The new lamps use 50 percent less energy, plus usage was further cut by dimming lamps selectively when and where full illumination is not needed.
The company expects the investment to return the full investment cost in less than one year. The effort was recognized by electric utility AEP Ohio's savings incentives programs for business.
