Industrial packaging firm Mauser AG is expanding its central and Eastern European presence by opening a plant in Gliwice, Poland.
The plant will produce intermediate bulk containers, including ones approved by the United Nations for use with hazardous and sensitive materials, along with U.N.-approved open-top and L-ring drums.
Mauser's sister company, National Container Group, offers drum-reconditioning services. Partnering with NCG allows Mauser to manage the life cycle of its plastics packaging, the company said in a June 13 news release. The plant is set to open this month. It is the Brühl-based company's first plant in Poland.
“Expanding our activities in Eastern Europe is a major strategic step for us in the market. Especially, as we see a growing economic impact of Poland for the packaging industry with an increasing demand for reliable packaging solutions,” said Juergen Scherer, Mauser Group's SBU manager for Europe, in the release.
Mauser employs about 4,000. In addition to IBCs, it produces plastics packaging, fiber drums and steel drums.
Combined, Mauser and NCG operate 60 sites in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
