MACEDON, N.Y. (June 29, 9:40 a.m. ET) — Berry Plastics Group Inc. is investing nearly $8.7 million to add three blown film lines to a Pliant LLC facility in Macedon, according to the recent Empire State Development Board.
ESD said it provided grants totaling $190,000 to help the company with building renovations, utility upgrades and the relocation of a blow film line from Canada, and two blow film extrusion lines from Massachusetts.
Berry, which is taking steps to file an initial public offering, would not comment on the expansion.
ECD said the total cost of the project is about $8.7 million, and it will create 62 jobs. ESD is New York's chief economic development agency.
Berry, based in Evansville, Ind., bought Pliant after the company emerged from Chapter 11 reorganization in December 2009. At that time, Pliant had 18 plants and 2,900 employees.
