Processing Technologies International LLC, a maker of sheet extrusion lines in Aurora, Ill., has received a U.S. patent for its new manual roll-gap adjustment device, featuring an integral ratchet positioning arm.
The patent number is 8,152,509.
The internal ratchet is operated with a wrench device that moves up or down a threaded shaft to accurately set the chrome roll gap within plus or minus 0.0005 inches. Analog gauges on each side of the roll provide a precise gap measurement.
“This new invention offers processors and manufacturers a simple and economical solution for roll gap adjustment that is not restricted by full line pressure,” said James Johnson, PTI's senior vice president of applications and technology.
