Most of the news stories I see about celebrities and plastics are either about surgery (thanks Lisa Rinna) or banning products. So it was refreshing today to see something completely different. Lauren Conrad, famous for her role on reality TV series Laguna Beach and The Hills, is getting some attention from celebrity-focused websites this week for her role with BlueAvocado, a "sustainable lifestyle products company." Conrad, an investor in the company, designed what the firm calls an an eco-collection of 20 travel and cosmetic accessories made out of recycled plastic. "As a designer, I hope that my choices can raise visibility around the importance of environmental sustainability and start to drive change with my fans. And what a great way to reuse those bottles we recycle every week," she told People magazine.
