MUENSTER, TEXAS (July 20, 1:30 p.m. ET) — A three-person group including brothers Brian and William Adams acquired composites maker Rumber Materials Inc. from the Fischer family on July 9. Terms were not disclosed.
Rumber employs 30, occupies a 30,000-square-foot facility in Muenster, Texas, and produces composite boards, sheets and molded products from 100-percent recycled tire rubber and plastics.
The company name — a contraction of rubber and lumber — reflects the nature of the product line as a replacement for wood or plastics. Rumber's composite material is suitable for creating new products through outsourced capabilities for injection or compression molding, extrusion or pressing into sheets.
The durable fluid-impervious products are used in livestock equipment, oil and gas, military, aviation and marine applications. The new owners plan to expand the business into additional markets and applications.
Brian Adams serves as CEO, and William Adams is chief operating officer.
The Fischer family acquired the business in 1992.
