HOUSTON (July 23, 2:15 p.m. ET) — British market data firm Argus Media has bought DeWitt & Co. Inc., a plastics and chemicals consulting firm based in Houston.
No purchase price was disclosed in the deal, which was announced July 15. DeWitt was founded in 1973 and publishes almost 200 price references, as well as providing intelligence on a wide variety of petrochemicals.
DeWitt “is a well-known and respected brand within the petrochemicals sector, and is a natural complement to Argus' existing strength in crude oil and refined petroleum products,” Argus Media chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said in a news release.
DeWitt senior vice president Edgar Acosta added that by joining Argus, DeWitt “will be able to offer enhanced services to our customers, and we will be developing new products together to meet the needs of our combined customer base.”
London-based Argus provides numerous services including energy and fertilizer prices that are widely used by leading companies, governments and international agencies as benchmarks in supply contracts.
