FLINT, MICH. (July 27, 12:15 p.m. ET) — Recycler American Commodities Inc. has expanded into its third location with a site in Tempe, Ariz., to grind and sell plastic scrap from the medical industry.
The Flint, Mich.-based company has about 60 employees at its main base in Flint and expanded to Anderson, S.C., in 2010 with a 10-employee facility to grind and shred plastic waste.
The Tempe operation is beginning with a two-person, 30,000-square-foot facility that is overseeing recycling of scrap from a customer in the region and selling the recycled material to other molders, said ACI co-owner Bill McCaffrey in a July 26 telephone interview.
ACI is considering expanding to add a compounding line in Tempe if business continues as expected, McCaffrey said.
The company has a small compounding operation for virgin material in Flint as well as its recycling operations there. The bulk of ACI's business is in removing paint from thermoplastic polyolefin automotive bumper fascia and separating multilayer instrument and door panels.
