NORCROSS, GA. (July 30, 1 p.m. ET) — Injection press maker Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has promoted Jim Mitchell to a newly created position: executive officer — global key accounts and business development.
Mitchell will work with all of worldwide plastics machinery divisions of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag and its parent company, Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI). His duties will include working on business development and on expanding the company's global footprint.
Mitchell joined the company in 2000, and since 2009 he has served as executive vice president for the U.S. operations of Demag Plastics Group and Sumitomo Plastics Machinery.
Earlier this month, the company promoted John F. Martich III to chief operating officer of the company's two U.S. operations: Sumitomo (SHI) Plastics Machinery (America) LLC in Norcross, Ga., and Van Dorn Demag Corp. in Strongsville, Ohio.
Sumitomo Demag formed in 2008 when Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan bought Schwaig, Germany-based Demag Ergotech GmbH and Van Dorn Demag Corp. in Strongsville.
