MINNEAPOLIS (Aug. 3, 10:20 a.m. ET) — Custom injection molder Diversified Plastics Inc. is increasing its manufacturing space by roughly 25 percent and adding a new white room for medical manufacturing at its Minneapolis plant.
The plant currently has 16 presses ranging from 55-550 tons of clamping force and a Class 100,000 medical clean room. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis.
“Our business has been growing, specifically in medical device components, and our facility expansion plans are key to meeting customer demand,” said Vice President Annette Lund, who expects the 10,000 square foot addition to the existing 43,000 square foot building to be completed within six months.
“This expansion gives us new white room space for recently purchased plastic injection molding equipment, more room for our assembly operations and additional space for quality control, tooling and our customers' kanban inventory,” she said.
“We are redesigning our layout to improve overall workflow and make the best use of our new space,” Lund said in a July 31 news release.
Diversified Plastics makes high-precision, close tolerance, small- to medium-sized injection molded components for the medical, electronic, automotive, aerospace, filtration and consumer markets, as well as several industrial markets.
Two components that the company molded from polyetheretherketone are on the NASA Juno space probe, which is on its way to the planet Jupiter.
