MUSCAT, OMAN (Aug. 8, 2 p.m. ET) — PET producer and sheet extruder Octal Petrochemicals Fzc LLC says its most recent expansion, which takes its total system output to 920,000 tons, will allow the company to increase supply to the North and South American markets.
The company says it has successfully completed phase two of the expansion at a Salalah plant.
The Muscat-based company had announced the $200 million project in December. The firm said it would add 1.16 billion pounds of PET capacity at its Salalah, Oman, production plant by June 2012.
Prior to the expansion, the plant had two reactors, now it has four. The firm makes sheet directly from molten PET produced at the site.
The firm mainly sells PET products in North America and Europe.
