Huron Technologies Inc. reports some of its release coatings for molding polyurethanes and other materials also improve thermoplastic extrusion processes.
The Leslie, Mich., company says release coating 8049, for example, simplifies thermoplastic extrusion by decreasing the friction between the polymer and die. The coating, one of Huron's newest, is a 100 percent active, non-silicone product.
Other releases useful for extrusion include 6310, a non-silicone aerosol that can be sprayed exactly where needed on the die, a silicone aerosol that extends the life of die sets and tooling, and 8601, a concentrated silicone dissolved in naphtha that speeds up processing due to the fast-evaporating solvent.
