Neutrex says it has a new purging compound that can cut the amount of purging agent used for copolymer polypropylene molding by 50 percent.
Purgex 741 reduces scrap rates and downtime between color changes. It is highly effective in changes from light to dark colors and at temperatures ranging from 375 degrees F to 475 degrees F in injection molding systems, including hot runners, according to the Houston, Texas, company.
Markets include automotive trim, food and medical packaging and heavy-duty storage containers.
Neutrex describes Purgex 741 as a ready-to-use blend of a polyolefin carrier and active ingredients. It provides mechanical and chemical actions and its ingredients are generally regarded as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, claims the producer. Neutrex says the product is the first in its 700 series designed to cut purging agent usage by 50 percent.
