MARLBOROUGH, MASS. (Oct. 19, 3:25 a.m. ET) — Nanobiomatters North America LLC has lined up three U.S. distributors for its BactiBlock-brand antimicrobial additives.
The line of silver-based antimicrobials will be distributed by D.B. Becker Co. Inc. of Clinton, N.J.; Matteson-Ridolfi Inc. of Riverview, Mich.; and Trans Western Chemicals of Pico Rivera, Calif.
“We're excited about partnering with three of the nation's leading additive distributors and taking a major step forward in the U.S. market,” business development director Miguel Ortiz said in an Oct. 18 news release.
The added distributors are expected to expand the firm's presence in coatings and textiles markets. Its additives also can be used by plastics processors as an additive masterbatch in molding and extrusion processes.
BactiBlock is based on silver-functionalized clay and can prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus and other micro-organisms on protected surfaces of polymer-based products. The material's additive range has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in the United States.
Nanobiomatters North America is based in Marlborough, Mass. It is the North American unit of Nanobiomatters Industries SL of Valencia, Spain. The parent firm operates almost 9 million pounds of masterbatch capacity in Valencia and almost 6 million pounds of additive capacity in Vall D'Uixo, Spain.
