CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MICH. (Jan. 2, 10:30 a.m. ET) — Foam Factory, a manufacturer of custom chair-cushion foam, rubber, sponge and upholstery products, is relocating to triple its production space. The move will allow it to keep pace with consumer demand and continued growth, the company said.
The business plans to move in late 2013 to a 309,000 square foot site in Mile Road in Macomb Township, Mich., from its current location in Clinton Township.
Foam Factory said the increase in space will allow it to carry greater inventory for faster service, as well as provide the room needed to introduce new products. It will also allow the addition of more machinery, increasing the speed of manufacturing and fabrication.
The site is less than 7 miles from Foam Factory's current location.
The company's product line includes custom seat cushions, foam mattresses and toppers, and acoustic treatment. In addition to walk-in customers, Foam Factory said its growing online customer base will see improvements in selection available and speed of service, since it will be able to process a greater volume of orders.
The increase in inventory and machinery means Foam Factory will need more staff: it aims to triple its current workforce of 30 employees.
Foam Factory has started renovations to the new facility, installing new loading docks and door systems, as well as overhauling the sprinkler and fire alarm system. Additional parking is also planned for walk-in customers.
