KIYOSU-SHI, JAPAN (Jan. 2, 10:30 a.m. ET) — Japanese supplier Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd is establishing a new plant for automotive interior and exterior components in Stratford, Ontario, to meet growing demand for automotive parts in North America.
The new plant, a branch plant of Toyoda Gosei subsidiary TG Minto Corp., will supply interior and exterior components to Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC).
The parts will include instrument panel parts, pillar garnishes and column hole covers.
Production at the 6000 square meter plant will start in mid-2013, and by 2014 the number of employees will be about 70 people with annual sales at that time of about 1.2 billion yen ($14 million).
The company has operated in Canada for 25 years after it took a stake in Waterville TG Inc. in Waterville, Quebec, in 1986. It currently has four plants making automotive parts: sealing parts at WTG Waterville plant, plants at Coachcock plant and Ontario, with interior and exterior parts made at the TG Minto Palmerston plant.
