Advancing its medical-device manufacturing agenda, Providien LLC acquired Dynaroll Corp., a Sylmar, Calif., supplier to the industry.
Terms of the Dec. 31 deal were not disclosed.
Dynaroll is a contract manufacturer of medical components for devices, robots, surgical equipment and disposable products. The firm also supplies high-precision miniature and instrument bearings essential for motion control in certain medical devices and diagnostic and imaging systems.
A small portion of Dynaroll's production involves precision machining of plastic components. The remainder deals with metals processing and assembly. The firm employs 85 at a 40,000-square-foot site.
Holding company Providien, based in Scottsdale, reports annual sales of about $80 million and employs about 800, said Providien President and CEO Jeff Goble.
Since Providien formed in 2010, it has built up its presence in the medical-device arena, acquiring only California-based companies, including plastics thermoformer Specialty Manufacturing Inc. of San Diego and injection molder Plastics Engineering and Development Inc. of Carlsbad. Also in Providien's lineup are Vista-based contract manufacturer Integra Biotechnical LLC, with manufacturing in Tijuana, Mexico; and ventilation therapy specialist Emergent Respiratory LLC of Carlsbad.
Goble said the addition of Dynaroll coincides with an industry trend toward consolidation of vendor bases. Dynaroll is certified under ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Simon Harrison founded Dynaroll in 1988.
