HEERLEN, NETHERLANDS (Jan. 15, 11:30 a.m. ET) — DSM NV's Dyneema high-performance fiber unit has opened an Asia Pacific technical center in Singapore, the company's first outside Europe and the United States.
The Dutch company officially opened the 2,500 square meter tech center Jan. 11, and said the facility will have Singapore's first independent ballistic testing center, with two ballistic ranges and various labs.
The Heerlen-based company said the S$10 million (US$8.2 million) center will speed local product development for its ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber in applications including in the personal security, commercial marine, industrial and sports markets.
“The Asia Pacific region is a key part of our global corporate strategy focusing on high growth economies,” said Gerard de Reuver, president of DSM Dyneema, in a statement. “With the opening of our new center we will provide our customers in this region with the support to ensure all their innovative and technical needs… are met.”
The company said the center meets Singapore's Building Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Scheme and achieved its GoldPlus standard.
