INDIANAPOLIS -- KW Plastics, a major supplier of plastic one gallon, quart, pint and half-pint containers for the paint and coatings industry, will host the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors (MAPP) first plant tour of 2013.
The Feb. 21 event in Troy, Ala., will demonstrate new methods, process technology, quality monitoring systems and downstream auxiliary equipment.
"Four facilities in the KW Plastics organization have been a members of MAPP since 2010." said Jenny Taylor, business manager for Indianapolis-based MAPP, in a news release.
"More importantly, they are doing some really exceptional things in automated manufacturing and recycling. In the last 2 years, the KW team has reduced cycle times on the injection molded products by 16 percent or an additional 2,000,000 parts per year per machine and, on top of that, have actually improved their quality levels. For a company to measure their quality in PPBs (parts per billion) instead of the standard PPM is astonishing."
MAPP holds at least three plant tours at member facilities each year.
MAPP members and non-members are welcome. For information, see www.mappinc.com.
